A document scanner for your phone. Photograph a page or an ID card and Paperlight finds the edges, straightens it, clears the shadow and reads the text so you can search it later. Everything stays on your device.

What it does
The parts of scanning that usually go wrong, handled for you.
Finds the page itself
It looks for paper and photographs, not for any rectangle in the room, and shoots the moment the page is square and still.
Clears the shadow
Auto, No shadow, Grey and B&W. The page's own lighting is divided out, so paper comes back white and the colour cast of an indoor lamp disappears.
Reads every page
Text recognition runs on your phone, so you can search your library by what a document says, not just what you named it.
ID cards, both sides
Front and back in one go, cropped to card size, with the second side checked so you never save the same one twice.
Shares as PDF
One tidy PDF, or the pages as images, straight into whatever app you already use.
Keeps a vault
Sensitive documents sit behind your phone's screen lock, and stay out of the rest of the library.
How it works
- Point and hold. A crosshair shows when the phone is square to the page, the way a spirit level would.
- It shoots by itself. Or press the shutter, if you prefer to choose the moment.
- Check and keep. Adjust the corners, pick a look, and add more pages to the same document.
- Find it later. Search by title or by any word printed on the page.
Your scans stay on your phone
Paperlight has no account and no server of ours. Your documents, the page images and the text read from them are kept in the app's private storage on your device, and we never receive them. Deleting the app deletes them.

Built, and switched on once each is ready:
- Backup to your own Google Drive. Into the hidden app folder, which only Paperlight can read — so a new phone restores your library, and we still hold nothing.
